I am opening a discussion of methods to create web sites so that they are easy to maintain and will allow multiple contributors.

Let’s start with two concepts:

1. Hand coding using HTML, or something that helps create HTML code.
2. Using a content management system. (CMS)

I personally prefer a CMS because it helps set a standard for how the site will look and feel and because HTML code can still be used for special requirements.

Having said that, I would like to open the discussion by understanding the pros and cons of each approach.

My CMS of choice is Drupal (www.drupal.org) but the actual CMS used will have many of the same opertions.

Knowledge of one method or another is a natural bias but let’s try to learn as much as possible from this exchange.
